day 91

17 November:

Henry likes to sit on my desk and watch the cursor flit across the computer screen. So I finally gave in and bought one of these non-laser “catch the toy” torches for him (yes, I know that I have to make sure to give him a treat so that he doesn’t get frustrated). Looks like he is too clever for this toy. He got excited for about 2 minutes, then looked at me and now he charges my hand holding the torch…

day 90

16 November:

Either it’s a new plot to get outside (“I just hide in the pizza box and get carried downstairs!”) OR it’s a passive aggressive way of telling us how he likes the food in the house so far (“I’d rather eat a cardboard box!”)
I think it’s the latter. A cat needs to establish early on who’s the box … boss!

day 89

November 15:

Henry post of the day: I think I’ve traced down his ancestry. His favourite toy – preferable to his sloth puppet, his minion figure, his feather-toy fishing rod – is a pen, any pen really. When he is not trying to lie on the keyboard or follow the mouse on the PC screen, he will find a pen, push it off the desk or table, and chart it around the floor. 10:1 his great-great-great … great-grandfather was one tomcat called Murr.

day 88

14 November:

He is plotting his escape. So far, of course, Henry is still a kitten and confined in the house. But he has noticed that once a day Lothar takes out the garbage – so he gave it a try today and huddled under the paper and plastic hoping that he would be caried through the big front door this way!

day 87

November 13:

Henry already has a few dietary preferences. Although like most cats he doesn’t really like milk, he is quite partial to milky foam and I have to defend my afternoon cappuccino against him. He also really likes cream cheese. NB: Please note the speck of cheese on his cheek.

day 86

He seems to settle down in the sense that he creates havock around the house. Balance sheet from this morning: created a towel avalanche in the bathroom, burying shampoos etc. underneath, tried to eat earrings (I need to hide them), kicked down the box with Lothar’s tablets, jumped on a pile of newspapers thus pushing down two baking sheets and a pan, crashing onto his water dish (which broke), used a dining room chair as scratching post (which stands next to it), and is currently trying to catch my earring dangling from my earlobe.

day 85

11 November:

Our grandson wanted to play Monopoly. Have you ever tried to play a board game with a cat around? Henry kicked the figures from the table, sat on top of the money or sprawled across the board, played with the dice, and chewed the hotels. 😏 it was the most fun we ever had playing that stupid game ! 🤣

day 83

9 November:

A friend of mine was in Murano near Venice over the weekend. I think our Henry has relatives in Italy. Maybe his real name is Enrico..
